When was the last time you really cared about something?
When was the last time you put your foot down, and stood up against something you knew was wrong?
I’m writing this from the mountains of northern Vietnam, where I’m filming a feature-length documentary on human trafficking.
Here, young girls are disappearing, spirited across the river for sale in China. Many never see their homes or families again. Their dreams are destroyed in brothels, or in forced marriages with foreign men.
My friend M was just one of them.
I’m not being paid to be here. I’m giving my time, money and energy because I care about what’s happening to M and countless young girls like her.
It’s been seven days since we launched The Human, Earth Project crowdfunding campaign, so that we can share M’s story with the world. Dozens of friends and strangers from around the world have already dug into their pockets to give what they can, and I applaud them.
Whether it’s five dollars or five hundred matters little. What matters is standing up and making a difference.
Because we all know children should not be sold… But what are you going to do about it?
